A diva is a glamorous, admired and distinguished woman with a bunch of sex appeal. Since a part of our society today is still very conservative, many women are scared to release their inner sex kitten. However, pop singer Beyonce and fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent each created a piece of pop culture that can have the average woman feel like she’s on top of the world.
When you think of bathing suits, you think of comfort and style (and also, the best choice for avoiding tan lines). Yves Saint Laurent thought outside the box and designed a bathing suit that screams diva. This biker style, zip-front swimsuit is not the type of bikini you would normally see on the beach or pool-side. It is over the top, just like Beyonce’s powerful “Diva” song lyrics.
The hit single “Diva” became an anthem for females who weren’t afraid to strut their stuff. Many fearless women related to the lyrics of “Diva,” because the song itself is bad-ass. Beyonce sings arrogantly about walking around in stilettos and getting paid; in other words, she’s stating she’s the shit. Many females can connect to the words as they are also experiencing a “I’m the shit” moment, possibly while wearing the YSL one-piece.
This skin-tight, butter-soft leather bathing suit with zipper detailing is not just another runway masterpiece. The swimsuit represents uniqueness and confidence that many diva-like women have. Ask any diva how she feels when she wears this fierce one-piece, and she’ll tell you that all she needs is a whip to complete her sex appeal.
Not only is the black-and-white “Diva” video full of lively energy, but it also establishes a zone for a woman’s imagination. Just like the killer bathing suit, the “Diva” video creates new ideas for women, giving them a chance to let loose. The video is of course filled with over the top wardrobe, much of which the average woman would not be seen wearing.
A popular lyric in “Diva” that many women know is “been the number one diva in this game for a minute, I know you read the paper, I’m the one they call the queen.” A diva is cocky with a hard-core exterior. Thanks to its edge and boldness, the YSL bathing suit is an automatic threat to regular swimsuits.
The song expresses a rank of power for a woman. Just like “Diva,” this black leather bathing suit celebrates women and embraces their empowerment, something that the old-school, yellow polka dot bikini simply can’t do.
Both pop culture elements are exuberant. You know that the average woman would not dare to wear this dominatrix swimsuit, and you know that the average woman would not dance and sing-along to “Diva” if she wasn’t feeling herself.
Without a doubt, I believe any fierce woman would rock this bathing suit as she is whipping her hair back and forth to “na na na, diva is the female version of a hustla.”
